UN Helicopter Shot, 4 Killed

UN Helicopter Shot
South Sudan forces shot down a helicopter belonging to the troops of the United Nations Peace-Bangs (UN). Events rose killing four Russian citizens who were in the helicopter.

According to UN sources, the helicopter was undergoing surveillance missions in the region's feud South Sudan army and rebels. South Sudan rebel faction led by a man named David Yau Yau.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned the attack event. Ban urges South Sudan to hold an investigation into the shooting.

At first, the South Sudan army dismissed reports that firing. But finally, they claim to think the helicopter was used to supply the rebels logistics Yau Yau in Jonglei.

"We regret this incident. We saw a white helicopter and asked the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on the existence of the helicopter, also dismissed the existence UNMISS helicopters and our troops opened fire. Helicopter we thought it was an enemy helicopter," said military spokesman Philip Aguer South Sudan, told Reuters on Saturday (22/12/2012).

So far, South Sudan accuses North Sudan always supplying weapons to the rebels in Jonglei. In September, South Sudan forces kill 10 troops themselves, because they menenggelamlkan military vessels in the interior because they thought the ship was an enemy ship.

South Sudan broke away from Sudan last year, through a civil war. Human rights activists are often accused South Sudan troops commit massacres and human rights violations, but South Sudan dismissed.
