Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti Resigns

Prime Minister (PM) Italy Mario Monti to resign from his position. The resignation was submitted directly to President Giorgio Napolitano.

Reporting from CNN, Saturday (12/22/2012), Monti has submitted his resignation to the President of Italy on Friday (21/12). Prime Minister nicknamed Super Mario ended his tenure after 13 months of lead.

With this resignation, President Napolitano will soon dissolve parliament within the next few days and hold elections. The plan, the election will be held February 24, 2013.

Motivation related Monti's resignation is still a question mark. Growing issue in Italy, he wanted to patent his position as prime minister to run for election.

Monti was appointed by Napolitano to fill the void left by Silvio Berlusconi who also resigned. As is known, Berlusconi to resign after failing to take Italy out of the crisis and the scandals involved.

If this is so, then he will be competing with Silvio Berlusconi has declared his intention to go back ahead in the polls.
